Communications Committee

If no communications co-chair exists, these duties default to the Secretary/Treasurer.

Co-chair (Newsletter) Duties

The communication co-chair (Newsletter) assimilates, writes, and distributes Announcements and the ChED Newsletter. Announcements are disseminated monthly mid-month while the ChED Division newsletter is disseminated 2-4 times a year.

Monthly Announcements are less formal and are developed for more time-sensitive postings. These may include such items as the following:

  • A message from the Chair or other Executive Committee Member.
  • Matters relating to Chemical Engineering Education
  • Notices related to the ASEE/AIChE Faculty Summer School
  • Announcements submitted from the ChED members, to be included by the discretion of the Communications Co-chair (newsletter) such as virtual communities of practice, job postings, request for survey responses, etc.

ChED Newsletters may include information that are normally added to the announcements but also may include:

  • Agenda for forthcoming ASEE Meeting
  • Summaries of Business Meeting Minutes
  • Ballots for Officer Election
  • Divisional meeting minutes
  • Ballots for Constitutional/Bylaws changes
  • Notices of Awards and Honors by the Division

To submit information and announcements to the ChED announcements and newsletter, please email ChED.ASEE.newsletter@gmail.com by the 10th of the month to be included in that month’s newsletter or announcements.

Co-chair (Website) Duties

The Communications Co-chair (Website) ensures that the Division website is maintained. Recurring Duties for the Co-chair (Website) may include:

  • General security updates of the ChED website
  • Content updates to the ChED website. These content updates may include officer updates, bylaw changes, division award recipient updates, award sponsor updates.
  • Working with the Co-chair (Newsletter) and the Secretary, upload committee and business meeting minutes and create announcement and newsletters posts in a timely matter for quick dissemination via the Chair to the division membership.
